Network marketing, is the sexy relatively new term for-multi-level marketing (MLM) and correct term for the misguided phrase, pyramid scheme.
When people hear mention of any one of the terms, it often makes them squirm. They react as if someone placed some bad food in front of them or confronted them with some other nasty horror.
One should first understand pyramid schemes are illegal. They are companies that pay people just for recruiting others with no or very few product sales. And, if one’s assessment of network marketing is about the shape of the business structure, they should look at the shape of every other industry, business, corporation, not for profit organization and determine their shape.
But here is the important point, while network marketing companies are organizationally shaped like a pyramid or triangle just like traditional businesses, the people who become independent consultants with them are able to continuously move up the organizational ladder earning more and more money replacing others who once earned more than them solely based on their productivity. Thousands of people across the globe are joining network marketing companies and are creating generational wealth. The numbers are staggering ($30 billion in the United States and $114 billion worldwide-see reference below) due in large part to the poor economy over the last few years worldwide.
Regrettably, most people never think or consider the possibility of generating wealth. Five years ago, I didn’t either. Now that is all I think about with a focus on my 15 month old daughter and my two adult daughters becoming financially free as I. I have nothing against people wanting or holding onto a job. If they are satisfied with their incomes that is fine but I would like them to know it is next to impossible for them to ever realize their financial dreams if they have anything to do with creating wealth or financial freedom.
There is one other characteristic of network marketing that inspires me every day. That is, it is an industry where the fundamental activity is networking and developing relationships with people. It requires a willingness to grow personally to achieve real success while at the same time enhancing one’s income. When done within a community, the result is economic and very likely political empowerment as well.
"It's Time
The human potential was never intended to be boxed in. But if you look around you, that cubicle you're in is doing just that. A cubicle is more than just a 'small partitioned space' as the dictionary defines it; it's a barrier of sorts--blocking the view of your true potential. Many people have escaped these barriers and are choosing their own destinies. And with a little courage, faith and perseverance, you can unlock your potential by starting a business that will allow you to enjoy life's many activities any day of the week--even Tuesdays."
